Plus Save Money
This just in! As of June 22, 2008, gas prices have risen 10 cents a gallon in the last two weeks, according to Kentucky.com. The average price for a regular gallon of gasoline today is $4.07 as opposed to $2.98 one year ago. Across the United States gas prices range from $3.80 in Missouri to a whopping $4.59 in California, according to GasBuddy.
Let’s do the math. Imagine a car with a 15-gallon gas tank. Multiplied by today’s average gas price of $4.07, it will cost $61.05 to fill the tank. Now, imagine a car with a larger 20-gallon gas tank. It will cost $80.14 every time you fill it. Now, imagine that you rent one of these cars to take a vacation.
Traditionally, every car rental establishment requires that the renter (you) buys his or her own gas during the entire duration of the car rental, plus returns the car with a FULL tank of gas. At today’s gas prices, that means shelling out $60-$80 bucks every time you fill the gas tank of a car rental. On a long distance trip, this could add up to quite a sum.
Fortunately, there is a car rental company that has broken away from tradition, Zipcar. Take a Zipcar car rental out for a short spin around town or on a long road trip. Either way, you won’t shell out $60 to $80 per tank or more as gas prices keep rising. In fact, you can forget about gas prices altogether because with a Zipcar you pay Zippo for gas. That’s right, Zippo! (Wait! Don’t run to Zipcar.com just yet. You’ll lose $25).
Zipcar car rentals also have other great advantages such as a variety of automobiles to choose from, convenient locations, and rates as low as $8/hour to $58/day. The hourly rate is great for short trips and the daily rate is comparable to or better than other car rental companies that leave you to pay the high gas prices. In addition to the free gas, these low rates also include free insurance and free parking. Parking is expensive in most major cities and outrageously expensive in New York where Zipcar car rentals are becoming quite popular. In fact, over 40% of all Zipsters decide against buying cars or sell their cars, find more about this.
So, how do you become a Zipster, beat outrageous gas prices, and take advantage of all of Zipcar’s car rental perks? You can go directly join. Or you can stop by my website first, click on the Zipcar banner, and get $25 worth of free driving. This will make your entire year’s worth of free gas and parking less than the price of one tank of gas (one 15-gallon tank).
